GEDITT stands for Global Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in Technology Transfer.
GEDITT is a group of people, a website, a network, a forum, a community, a think-tank, and a task-and-finish group on a project that will persist as long as needed.
The international group started in early 2021 when a few Technology Transfer professionals found themselves talking about racial inequalities in the worlds of Technology Transfer, universities, and science, and began to think what they could do to make things more inclusive. Diversity is a huge subject with many different dimensions and characteristics. This breadth and complexity can sometimes deter well-meaning people from starting, and initial steps can be hampered by the realisation of the overall scale and of the challenges many people face. The group is initially focused on two areas of diversity and inclusion - race and then gender; this is not to the exclusion of others (disability, age, thought, sexuality, socioeconomic status, etc.) - it is a pragmatic approach of identifying somewhere to start. People ask if they can join GEDITT to which the answer is both yes - you already have by being here - and no - it is not a membership organisation, it is, as we stated above, a group of people, a website, a network, a forum, and an opportunity to work together to progress inclusion in tech transfer.
GEDITT is open and inclusive, wants to help, and invites you to join the conversation.
